The credit card has changed the shape of shopping in today’s world. The funny thing is how you lose some of the services you took for granted when you destroy your American Express card like I did. I don’t think I realized how many of the most basic things in life relied on having a credit card, even to joining my local gym in Philadelphia. I remember when using cash was the preferred way to buy things.

It is a global phenomenon buying products or services with your American Express credit card without even caring whether or not we can afford them or even need them. Using your American Express credit card may be convenient but there is a cost for the convenience of paying at a later date. Credit card debt is mounting everywhere. One of the largest problems facing America today is that of credit card debt.

This is the primary reason I decided to cancel my American Express credit card recently. Once I had the power to buy things without parting with my money immediately, I was almost unstoppable. Charging everything to my card was stupid because before too long the debts just spiraled out of control. I was dealing with a debt that I could not possibly pay, and I was in a state of panic.

Eventually, I used the services of a debt refinancing agency which enabled me to start paying some of the debt back. It was an awful situation I found myself in. Today, I am American Express credit card and debt free. Most people that have never been in this situation will think I am making excuses blaming the credit card but they are missing something important about people.

If you pay for goods or services in cash, you actually see that money coming out of your pocket. Like I said before you are not as conscious of the cost when you use your credit card. I would spend money on everything, almost like a person possessed but before long, there wasn’t anything left. It’s difficult getting yourself into a debt problem if you don’t have an American Express credit card to start with.
